Creative Producer and Campaign Lead, Communications

Heran Abate is a Creative Producer and Campaign Lead in Global Communications. She oversees a portfolio of multimedia projects that highlight the innovations, interventions, frontline professionals, and human stories driving the movement to eliminate NTDs. For over a decade, Heran has worked between New York and East Africa with startups and nonprofits, curating public programming, producing award-winning documentaries and short films, and building audience engagement across platforms. Her past video work has won Emmy and World Press Photo awards, been broadcast on PBS, and screened at Sundance. Heran’s short fiction and articles appear in print anthologies and online publications.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts from The New School and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Spanish from Wesleyan University.

Heran is passionate about fieldwork that brings together professionals, communities, and storytellers to capture and amplify urgent, impactful stories that catalyze change.
