Breaking the cycle of neglect
A new report produced by the Economist Intelligence Unit highlights the staggering potential economic gains if the 2030 goals of eliminating schistosomiasis and intestinal worms as a public health problem in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Kenya are achieved. Achieving these targets will require concerted action, including more detailed disease mapping and integration with wider public health efforts, especially programs to improve sanitation. The END Fund commissioned the report, “Reducing the burden of parasitic worms in sub-saharan Africa”, to help create a stronger platform to drive more sustainable and effective NTD responses.
